Day in the Life - Bushy Turnquest

Versean 'Bushy' Turnquest walks through a typical day in the life of a TFS student. Get a true point of view of what it's like to be at Tallulah Falls School.

Bushy Turnquest: Hi, my name is Bushy Turnquest. Uh, I'm a senior at Tallulah Falls School. I've been going here for 4 years and I'm going to show you a day in my life. Come with me. Let me show you my room. All right. This is my room. This is my roommate. We've been roommates for 2 years pretty much. And yeah, come inside. This is my side. You could have pretty much whatever you want cuz I have my PS5 and then I have like my PC and then you have your bed and then uh it's a nice all your stuff and you have drawers and then you could have a mini fridge as well.

In the mornings I usually wake up about like 7:00 and then just get ready for the day and that's pretty much it. So now after I'm ready at about like 7:40 I started heading to breakfast now. So on weekends we usually hang out to the gazebo. There's like this badminton. We play badminton all the time and just hang out there when it's like warm weather cuz actually it's cold now. But when it's warm, we'd all be out there playing music and just hanging out.

This is where we eat. We have cereals, sandwiches, and in the mornings they make smoothies for us. It's something different every morning. It's grits. That's ham with eggs and hash browns. You make hot chocolate and coffee as well. And bagels, too.

So now after a short walk, this is the upper school where I have most of my academic classes. Morning! Good morning. Y'all have a great day. So this is my first class of the day: Human Geography. Okay, so after our first class, we have office hours. So that's where you can get tutoring, hang out with your friends, or come to the school store and get a snack. This is a good time to just catch up on your work if you have any, or talk to your teachers and stuff like that.

Mrs. Barco: My name is Mrs. Barco. I teach some of the college sciences here at Tallulah Falls School. Today in college biology, students are going to be learning a little bit more about the organisms in Kingdom Protista. And we're going to be looking at different samples of pond water so they can see the microscopic organisms that you don't normally get to see with the naked eye.

Bushy Turnquest: So after biology, I go to lunch. I have first lunch and the school has three different lunches. So I'm really lucky to have the first one. And today we have Philly cheese steaks, I think. And that's one of my favorite lunches. So I'm kind of lucky today.

Okay, so my third and like second to last stop of the day is the weight room. It's one of my favorite classes cuz I just get to, you know, work out and love to work out and recover sometimes and sometimes you go on the natatorium to recover and yeah, it's fun. I love my coach, Coach Da and Coach Menard. And it's good. It's really good.

This is my last class is AP Micro. Um, I just take it online and I like it because I just feel like I have more control over like what I can do and when I can do it. And then I just take it because it's going to help me with my college process even better because of how much credits it gives me. And yeah, so we have an odd and even schedule. Today is our odd day and tomorrow is even day. And what I like about my even day is that I have the class WIN last period.

And WIN is pretty much a class where you could go to the student center or the learning center and do whatever you want. Like you could do homework, talk to your friends, and at the student center you could play pool, air hockey, or ping pong. And in WIN, I just get all of my work done. So I don't have to do it in my room after school.

A big project that we do at the school is called a capstone project. It's for seniors only. And you start preparing for it from your junior year. It's like when you pick a topic that you're really interested in and you start researching on it. First you do a paper and then you get prepared for a 10-minute speech that you have to do on your second semester of your senior year. And I'm going to show you a bit what that was like for me.

So what's up guys? Uh it's after school now. So usually after school I would run back to the dorms and change for practice. But today we have a game. So I change fast for the game. But that's just normal day after school. After practice, I'd go shower, then go to dinner. And then after that, if I have school work, I do my school work. And yeah, and then just hang out in the dorms in night time and go to bed around 11:00. And yeah, that's just that's been my day in the life, you know, my whole life consistent. And yeah, everything is just fun around the dorms. And I love it here.
