Middle school academics are basically your four core academics, we have math, English, history, and science. And each one of them is tiered to meet the rigors of the next grade level, or ultimately in the eighth grade for when they come across the street to the Upper School.
They prepare us for the upcoming grades by kind of going over some of the stuff we're learning and showing us what we're going to be jumping into in the following grades. They really care about your feelings, and they describe everything really well. And they help you through whatever challenges you're going through.
We have an elective program at the middle school that is consisting basically of the same classes that they would take at the upper school, but we do them on a more intermediate level. We have a visual arts program at each grade level. Once they get into the class and start to realize what they're capable of it just creates that passion in them.
So in our classrooms, we each have a separate Chromebook that we get to bring home every day. And we use it all the time in class and they're really easy to work with.
The main purpose of technology at the middle school is to teach our students to use it in a way that furthers their education promotes research and study and bringing more of the intellect into it, then the social media aspect of it.
My favorite thing about our classmates and the people here that I go to school with is that they're all really friendly, and they bring people in just like their own family.
One of the things that is magical about the middle school is we really kind of work under the mantra that culture is everything. We want someone to have that experience when they first walked into our building, or "Hey, there's something different about this place. We may not be able to define it but it's special."
